adventura expeditionabout adventura expeditions are now offering arctic expeditions in partnership with Snowball Expeditions, to celebrate this venture we are offering an Arctic Experience Expedition, May to June 2009*, at a heavily discounted price. Join us to experience some of the most extreme and remote ice landscapes in the World.
On this extraordinary expedition you will be guided by professionals at all times through one of the most remote and pristine environments in the world. Our base camp at Resolute bay sits in the foot hills of Cornwallis Island, an Inuit outpost deep inside the arctic circle. Steeped in polar Expedition history, the legendary North West Passage is the gateway to your expedition. You will be lead by a professional British Polar Explorer Mark Wood (one of our via ferrata instructors), who guided Jeremy Clarkson on the Top Gear Polar Challenge, has reached the Geomagnetic Pole several times and will be part of a World record attempt to the N and S poles and Everest all within a year in 2009.
Expereience true wilderness: After two days training at Resolute Bay, we will live and move on the ice for four days and learn to survive in this timeless land. Then local Inuit guides will join the team to take us on a two-day adventure on snowmobiles, allowing us to reach deeper into the arctic wilderness. This will be a fantastic opportunity to look for the majestic polar bear. A champagne meal on the way back home through Ottawa will help us celebrate your achievement of travelling and seeing, first-hand, this fast disappearing land. Most people are capable of doing this expedition although you do need a base level of fitness.
There is a training weekend in May at The Bull Hotel Bridport, a chance to meet your guides, train with your team and be completely clear about what you are stepping into. Here is a brief summary (for more information or to book a place call us on 0844 587 3025); Polar navigation and communication, clothing techniques and management, clothing you will need to provide and what Snowball Expeditions provide, camp craft including tent pitching, Polar bear awareness training, and what happens if it all goes wrong – evacuation procedures and cold weather injuries.
This is truly a unique opportunity for people to experience, first-hand, what it's like to travel on foot and by snowmobile, through the frozen lands of the Canadian high Arctic. For more information or to make a booking please call Mal Seward on 0844 587 3025. 25% secures your place with the remainder payable at the training weekend. On booking we will give you nutritional and physical fitness advice. You will then need to book your room at The Bull for the training weekend, where we have secured a 10% discount.
Arctic Experience dates are dependant on the flight schedules.
** This excludes flights - UK to Ottawa £500, Ottawa to Cornwallis Island, High Arctic £1500 approx.
